Heavy lift ship sank during construction works
The "Liao He Yi Hao" suffered hugging during wind farm construction works in the Yellow Sea in a fish farms zone north of Shanghai on Sep 4, 2016. The vessel’s stern and fore sagged and came to rest on the sandy bottom. . The accident was caused by miscalculations in the heavyweight equipment installation. The fuel was already pumped off the ship, the salvage was restricted by the shallow waters around the ship so a lot of salvage equipment has to be transported to the spot by small boats.
