Repairs still underway at Tuzla
By Dec 7 a new set of spare parts has been provided by the owners for the "Karmate" in Tuzla. Repairs were still being done at a shipyard by shore based technical teams under supervision of the owners superintenden as of Dec 10. The ship left Tuzla after repairs on Dec 30 at 12.30 p.m. and headed to Eregli.
Technical failure off Finike
The "Karmate", en route from Iskenderun to Gemlik, suffered technical failure off Finike on Oct 18, 2018. AFter repair works could not be carried out by the crew, the tug "Kurtkulagi" was appointed to tow the vessel to Gemlik. During the Canakkale Strait passage, a Coastal Safety tug provided escort service for the vessel and ensured the strait traffic safety. ETA at Gemlik Oct 26.
Collision off Lesvos
The "Karmate" was in collision with the gunboat "Armatolis" of the Greek Navy on May 4, 2018, at 1 a.m. inthe Mytilini Strait between Lesvos island and the Turkish mainland about four miles off the Lesvos coast. The "Karmate" reportedly was warned to change her course prior to the collision, but ignored the warnings. The vessel was en route from Izmir to Tekirdag and was crossing the strait in northern direction at the time of the collision. After the accident she sailed into Turkish waters and stopped. At 06.10 a.m. the vesssel started moving towards Dikili port, nearest to her Turkish port in Mytilini Strait. She moored on Dikili anchorage at 8.50 a.m.
