Charter for salvage vessel extended

Tue Jun 05 18:51:53 CEST 2012 Timsen

The U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command has chartered the "Kellie Chouest". Alpha Marine Services in Cut Off, a subsidiary of Edison Chouest Offshore, was awarded the $8 million contract to provide the vessel and crew to operate it for a year, the Defense Department announced on June 4, 2012. The vessel is based in San Diego and is leased by the Navy's Military Sealift Command for special missions. It will be used worldwide and be used as a platform from which small boats will be launched and recovered, refueled, provisioned and maintained. Helicopter operations also will be supported. The contract included two options to extend the charter period, one for a one-year extension and the other for up to six months.
