Grounding off Padangbai Harbour

On June 20, 2023, at 7.10 p.m. WITA the KMP 'Rodita' ran aground 200 meters from the port with 137 passengers and 18 crew members on board, when it was about to dock at Padangbai Harbour, Karangasem, en route from Sheet Harbour, West Nusa Tenggara. The Bali National Search and Rescue Agency successfully evacuated the passengers with a rubber boat. and took them to pier one of the port. The grounding was caused by strong ocean currents. The tug 'Transkodara' refloated the ship at 11 p.m.

The 'Roditha' was successfully refloated and was able to dock at Pier 1 of Padang Bai Harbor one hour after it ran aground on July 24. The vessel was about to dock when strong winds and currents caused it to drift to shallow waters.

The KMP 'Roditha' ran aground near Pier 2 of Padang Bai Harbour, Padang Bai Village, Manggis District, on July 24, 2022, at around 9 p.m. WITA. The ship had sailed from Lembar Harbor, West Lombok, at 5 p.m. Passengers panicked because the weather was bad at that time. When approaching the Padang Bai Harbour Pier, suddenly the weather turned, and the ship got stuck in strong winds and dropped anchor.
