Starboard side engine failed to start

In the morningof April 7, 2024, the Port Authority of Prinos was informed by the Master of the 'Nikitis' that the ship was not able to start its scheduled route from the port of Prinos to the port of Kavala, due to the inability to start the starboard side main engine. The Port Authority banned the ferry from sailing until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the monitoring classification society. The 12 passengers were forwarded to their destination from the port of Thassos.

Mechanical damage off Kavala

The Port Authority of Kavala was informed on Aug 18, 2021, at noon by the Captain of the 'Nikitis' about a mechanical failure of the starboard side main engine during the arrival of the ship in the port. The ship was operating a scheduled route from the port of Prinos Thassos to the port of Kavala. The ship safely berthed in Kavala, where it was banned from sailing until the damage was repaired and a class maintenance certificate was presented by the attending classification society. The ship left the port again on Aug 19 at 7.40 a.m., and berthed in Prinos Thassos at 9.10 a.m.

Mechanical damage in Keramotis

On Aug 1, 2019, the "Nikitis" suffered a mechanical damage to the starboard side main engine upon the arrival at the port of Keramotis. The ferry safely disembarked all passengers, while the relevant Port Authority banned the ship from sailing until the damage was repaired and a class certificate issued by the attending classification society.
