Cargo ship detained after collision
The Qingdao Maritime Court has detained the "Xin Ri 6" after it collided with a fishing boat off Qingdao on Feb 27, 2016, causing the fishing boat to sink. Five crew members were recovered dead and another five wree missing and presumed to be dead. The detention was requested by the fishing vessel owner who also demanded the owner of "Xin Ri 6" to provide a RMB5m fund guarantee. The court detained the ship as it was about to leave Qingdao Port on Mar 9.
Bulkcarrier sank fishing vessel
The "Xin Ri 6" (IMO: 980463) was in collision with the "Lujiaoyu 60968" on Feb 27, 2016, at 00.50 a.m.40 nm off Qingdao in the Yellow Sea. The fishing vessel sank, 10 crew abandoned ship but bave not yet been rescued due to fog, an SAR operation was under way. The bulk carrier was en route from Zhoushan to Qingdao.
