Power loss off English Bay
The 'Santa Ines', enroute from Prince Rupert, suffered a loss of the main engine power while approaching the Anchorage U in the English Bay on Nov 4, 2020, at 12.20 a.m. The crew carried out repairs, and at 11 p.m. the ship was underway again towards Vancouver.
“Santa Ines” christened at Daewoo (DSME) in Geoje
On Wednesday, 27 June 2012, Hamburg Süd celebrated the christening of its container ship “Santa Ines” at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. (DSME) in Geoje-City in Korea. Sponsor of the “Santa Ines” was Dr Marie Schnell, a daughter of Dr Arend Oetker. The “Santa Ines” is the last newbuilding of a series of ten container ships, each of which has a slot capacity of 7,100 TEU and is fitted with 1,600 reefer container plugs. Following her delivery at DSME on 29 July, the “Santa Ines” is to be phased into Hamburg Süd’s service between Asia and South Africa/South America East Coast.
