Search for missing crew member

Mon Sep 25 10:06:50 CEST 2017 Timsen

On Sep 24, 2017, the NSRI Mossel Bay duty crew was activated by the Transnet National Ports Authority following reports of a 37 year old man from Port Nolloth missing on the "Captain John K" which was anchored off Mossel Bay. Efforts to locate the man had failed and it was suspected that he may have gone overboard during the night. The NSRI Mossel Bay deployed the "Vodacom Rescuer IV" and the "Rescue 15 Bravo", joined by the the Transnet National Ports Authority tug boat "Arctic Turn", accompanied by NSRI crew Corne Wessels and Konrad Beukes. An extensive search revealed no sign of the missing man and the EMS/AMS Skymed rescue helicopter joined the search but after no sign of the man was found a Police Dive Unit have been notified and they continued in an ongoing search operation. The police has opened an investigation.
