Technical failure in Gabes

The 'Akasya 1' suffered a technical failure at Gabes on Nov 15, 2019. The vessel's departure permission was cancelled by the Harbour Master until completion of repairs and a verification by state surveyors. The 'Akasya 1' sailed from Gabes on Nov 19.

Detention in Oristano

The Port Authority of Oristano detained the "Akasya 1" with 11 crew members on board on May 21, 2019. During an inspection by the Coast Guard, a series of violations of the rules on navigation safety and the protection of the marine environment were found. The ship was arrested for the rectification of the deficiencies established. The ship had arrived in Oristano in the afternoon of May 20, coming from the port of Damietta to unload 1700 tons of beet pulp. The vessel left the port of Otranto on May 30 at 4.30 p.m. and headed towards the Sant Antioco Anchorage. Detention in Massa Carrara

On April 9, 2019, the Italian Coastguard detained the "Akasya 1" in the port of Marina di Carrara (Massa Carrara) due to insufficient safety conditions following a port state control. The Coastguard found 15 defiencies of which six were particularly serious such as the failure of some radio communication devices on the bridge; the absence of d.p.i. to be used in the event of a fire on dangerous goods; the lack of knowledge of the safety procedures for entry into confined spaces and the incorrect maintenance of the device for detecting toxic or explosive gases.On April 17 the authorization released the ship which departed to the port of Sidon after it was ensured that the crew restored the safety conditions with an ETA as of April 23.
