Drug search going on

Police teams from the narcotic department continued to attend on board the 'Sivota' due to undeclared and smuggling of cocaine allegation en route from Puerto Bolivar to Zonguldak. The vessel remained berthed at Eren port, Zonguldak, as of Feb 15. Search operations were still being carried out on board the vessel. Underwater inspections were being carried out by the police diver teams. 45 police officers from the narcotic department were appointed for the search. The subject operation continued during the coal discharge operations.

Drug raid on bulk carrier

Narcotic teams raided the 'Sivota' in the Kilimli district of Zonguldak on Feb 11, 2022. The teams of the Zonguldak Provincial Police Department Anti-Narcotic Crimes Branch carried out a search after receiving a report that there was a large amount of cocaine on the ship which was en route to the Eren Energy Thermal Power Plant where it berthed at 7.30 a.m. en route from Rotterdam. With the permission of the Attorney General's Office, the crews boarded the ship with 65 police officers and began to search it thoroughly. While a state of emergency was declared on the ship, it was stated that the searches on the ship will take two days.
