Anchor failure off Prince Rupert
The 'Star Piera' suffered a failure of its starboard anchor due to hydraulic problems, while it was departing the Prince Rupert anchorage, British Colombia on Jan 14, 2021. The crew carried out repairs, and the ship berthed in Ridley Island from Jan 16 to 17 before leaving Canadian waters enroute to Zoushan, ETA Feb 3.
Allision avoided following engine failure
The 'Star Piera' suffered an engine failure while berthing at Puerto Quequén in the afternoon of March 26, 2020. The ship got out of control and was drifted towards a quay, but managed to drop the starboard side bow anchor and was stopped by tugs meters away from the quay and then brought alongside. The freighter had entered the port with 53.000 tons of wheat and was going to complete with another 20.000.
