Wreck removal has commenced
An official letter of notification made by the Harbour Master, regarding the removal of the 'Streamline', was addressed to the wners and their local agent. However, the owners apparently could not respond due to various reasons. Accordingly, the Coastal Safety appointed a third party wreck Removal Company, in order to transfer the fuel remaining onboard and also for the removal of the vessel with a break-up method at site. The local municipality has issued the necessary environmental permission. Pollution barriers were placed all around the vessel. Upon the completion of formalities, wreck removal operation commenced on March 7, 2021 and were scheduled to be completed by mid-April. A mobile crane was positioned on the adjacent shore and first started removing the cargo hatches. The Harbour Master and local environmental protection authority have declared the operation area as restricted zone.
