Allision in Bremerhaven

Fri Oct 04 18:45:59 CEST 2019 Timsen

On Oct 3, 2019, at 2.50 a.m. the 'Victoria Highway' allided with a bulkhead off the Northern lock in Bremerhaven upon its arrival from Charleston. During a turning manoever tugs were unable to control the ship so that the port side stern hit the obstruction. The hull was dented and torn open, so that a ballast water tank was breached. The ship berthed in the North Port N in Bremerhaven short time later and was seized while the investigatons of the police were going on. The ship entered the Lloyd Yard Bremerhaven for repairs on Oct 4 around midnight. She left the yard after repairs to its port side stern were completed, on Oct 6 at 10.40 p.m. and headed to Zeebrugge as next port of call with an ETA as of Oct 7, 10 p.m. German report with photo: https://www.presseportal.de/blaulicht/pm/35235/4392716
