Crew to be repatriated

Wed Jun 23 11:22:09 CEST 2021 Timsen

The repatriation for the stranded Filipino crew members of the 'Angelic Power' in Hong Kong may soon be processed as court proceedings and crew changes are now moving forward. A custodian appointed by the Guangzhou Maritime Court to manage thevessel has arranged for a Chinese crew to board the vessel and familiarize themselves with its operation. The need to comply with minimum safe manning requirements on the ship must be accounted for. This development came after concerns about participating in court proceedings arise for the crew which was stranded aboard the ship for the past 17 months after the Guangzhou Maritime Court detained the vessel due to a financial dispute between the cargo receiver, Guangzhou South China Coal Trade Center Co, and the ship's owners Angeliki Dynamic Investment Corp. The court proceedings were moving forward too with a video conference between the Guangzhou Maritime Court and the Filipino crew members on June 18. The court will take a few days to issue the necessary orders and notices for finalizing the case registration, after which the crew can be repatriated.. The crew consists of 13 Filipinos and two Greeks who complained of dwindling food supplies and medicines, expired insurances, and unpaid wages since January 2021.
