On June 4, new harbour of port Sochi welcomed the first cruise ship, IAA PortNews informs. Cruise ship Insignia owned by Oceaniа Cruises is flying the flag of Marshall Islands. Cruise season at port Sochi was opened on April 12 with the call of cruise ship Hamburg (flag of Bahama Islands).

Сruise ships leave the port of Sochi one by one starting from February 25, 2014. According to the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency (Rosmorrechflot), the meeting on the schedule for departure of vessels has been recently held by the Agency head Aleksandr Davydenko on board the command ship of Rosmorrechflot. During the Winter Olympics the services of the cruise ships were provided to 52,000 persons. The head of Rosmorrechflot has thanked the captains of cruise ships for the support of the Olympics. Deputy Transport Minister of Russia Victor Olersky, who attended the meeting, noted that the ships were occupied by 90%. Cruise ships were chartered by FSUE Rosmorport for accommodation of the guests and the participants of the XXII Olympic Games and the XI Paralympic Games in Sochi.

First “Olympic” cruise ship arrives at Port Sochi Imeretinsky

First cruise ship in the Olympic period arrived to Port Sochi Imeretinsky. According to the press center of industrial group Basic Element, the Thomson Spirit is the first of seven cruise ships to stay in Sochi during the Olympic and Paralympic Games as floating hotels. Thomson Spirit (owned by TUI Thomson) has 627 cabins to accommodate 1,254 passengers.
