India to inaugurate Angre Port (at Jaigad near Ratnagiri)
Angre Port at Jaigad near Ratnagiri is set to begin operations. The Port will be inaugurated on April 24, 2012 by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Prithviraj Chavan, Daily Shipping Times reported. Crude oil will be the main cargo at the port and oil major Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has a plan to set up a refinery near the port. The company is in talks with an oil for offering bunkering service (the process of filling oil in ships) at the Fujairah price. Set up with an investment of INR 520 crore, the port intends to serve the trucking hinterland within 350 killometre radius spread over Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka.
