Wed May 16 10:57:27 CEST 2018 arnekiel

Three Turkish cruise ports operated by Global Ports Holding welcomed 26% more passengers in the first quarter of 2018, compared to the same period in 2017, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute. Highlights of Antalya Cruise Port’s 2018 season to date have included a call from Noble Caledonia’s Serenissima on 26 March and a visit from TUI Cruises’ Mein Schiff 1 on 30 March. On Turkey’s west coast, Ege Port – Kuşadası has already welcomed Serenissimia and Celestyal Cruises’ Celestyal Majesty and will host an inaugural call from Azamara Cruises’ Azamara Journey on 15 May. In addition, the port will handle return visits from both Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises later in the year. Meanwhile, Bodrum Cruise Port is set to receive several maiden calls in 2018, including Thomson Cruises` TUI Discovery 2 on 22 May and TUI Cruises’ Mein Schiff 4 and Ponant’s La Perouse in October.

A cruise and yacht port to be built in Antalya

Mon Sep 26 10:59:25 CEST 2016 arnekiel

Ground and sea studies to construct a cruise and a yacht port in the world-famous tourist city of Antalya are underway. According to a written statement by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, the city, which is already a center of tourism due to its historic and natural beauties, will become one of the most important spots for cruise tourism once the port has been constructed. The statement indicates that the Cruise and Yacht Port project is one of the "visionary" projects that Antalya Metropolitan Mayor Menderes Türel wants to bring to the city. Within the framework of standards set by the Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Ministry, ground and sea exploration studies are being carried out at the west end of Lara's Birlik Beach where the port will be built. http://www.dailysabah.com/tourism/2016/09/26/a-cruise-and-yacht-port-to-be-built-in-antalya

Tour boat sank off Antalya, zwo missing

Sat Sep 03 22:34:10 CEST 2016 Timsen

The Turkish tour boat "Kurt Ceyhan" (MMSI-No.: 271041081; CS: YM4368 ) from Kaleiçi got in distress on Sep 3, 2016, at 4.45 p.m. close to Antalya. The ship had left Kaleiçi around 11 a.m. and suffered water ingress upon its return 26,5 kilometers off Konyaaltı in stormy weathers. The 79 tourists on board the 28-m-ship were donned life vests, while a fleet of other tour boats and patrol boats of the Coast Guard approached the sinking vessel. It finally capsized and sank on a water depth of 45 meters at 5.30 p.m. 79 persons were rescued, two more, among them a child and a woman, missing. The search on sea was aborted as darkness fell and rough seas continued hampering the operation. 35 of the rescued were treated in hospitals around Antalya. Some of them had inhaled diesel.
