Ice restrictions at the port of Arkhangelsk come into effect on February 15

Restrictions on navigation in the port of Arkhangelsk coming into effect on 15 February 2019 are applicable to vessels covered by icebreaker assistance. According to the order signed by the Port Harbour Master Dmitry Sarapunin, icebreaker assistance will be only provided to vessels with ice class Ice3 and above; vessels with ice class Arc4 and above can sail independently within the water area of port Arkhangelsk, along the canal fairway; vessels of Ice2 category and above are allowed to sail along the canal with the assistance of icebreakers between Chizhovsky anchorage and Rosneft berths and up to the berths higher off the Krasnoflotsky bridge.

Fire on board Trawler Solombala while undergoing repair works

Trawler Solombala (782 gt, built 1988), experienced fire, while undergoing its repair works in the Port of Archangel, at 0800 hrs, today. The fire broke out in one of the cabins on the vessel. Twenty eight personnel along with seven fire fighting appliances fought the fire, which was extinguished at 0850 hrs. The damages were restricted to the cabin measuring 3 metres x 4 metres. No injuries were reported by the crew members or the fire fighters

Norilsk Nickel sells its share in Arkhangelsk Sea Commercial Port

The Board of Directors of OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel has approved the sale of the Company’s share in Arkhangelsk Sea Commercial Port OJSC (the Company controls 74.78% of Arkhangelsk SCP stock). According to the press center of Norilsk Nickel, the transaction complies with the Company’s strategy on gradual disposal of non-profile assets. The statement says Norilsk Nickel redirects its cargo flows to its new transshipment terminal in Murmansk in order to reduce operational costs. The value of the shares has been determined through independent evaluation. The package of shares will be bought by Osoblanco Holdings Limited, associated with one of Norilsk Nickel shareholders - Invest AG.
