Port Of Hueneme Awarded $3 Million To Launch Zero Emission STS Freight Project

Sat Oct 06 11:57:03 CEST 2018 arnekiel

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has awarded $3 million to the Port of Hueneme to fund their ship to shore zero emission energy project. This project was a part of a joint application with the Port of Los Angeles for the statewide Zero- and Near Zero- Emission Freight Facilities (ZANZEFF) Grant solicitation funded through the state’s Cap and Trade dollars. Cap and Trade is a statewide initiative that puts billions of dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy and improving public health and the environment — particularly in disadvantaged communities. The Port will provide a $200,000 match to the grant funding for a total project cost of $3.2 million.

Port of Hueneme channel deepening postponed

Wed Sep 21 10:17:01 CEST 2016 arnekiel

The Port of Hueneme channel-deepening project has been put off for about a year, but an overall improvement project is still on track. “I don’t care if the pieces move around and one thing is done before another, as long as the project is completed on time,” said Chief Operations Officer John Demers, adding that the berth-refurbishment and channel-deepening project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2018. Port of Hueneme’s first Post-Panamax ship was greeted by Wallenius Wilhelmsen Lines (WWL) company leaders and Port officials during an occasion marking a paradigm shift in how the widened Panama Canal will bring a new class of vessels to the Port of Hueneme. This maiden voyage of the M/V Thalatta marks a new milestone to support the Port’s and its industry partners’ agenda. Thalatta is one of the newest high efficiency Roll on Roll off (RoRo) HERO class vessels designed to increase capacity and flexibility while reducing emissions. http://www.marinelink.com/news/postpanamax-welcomes413733.aspx
