Port Of Hull Expands Container Connections With New Sailings To Belgium’s Biggest Port

Sat Oct 06 11:54:26 CEST 2018 arnekiel

ABP’s Port of Hull continues to boom as it welcomes yet another new container service. The latest service will connect Hull with Antwerp, Belgium’s largest port. Global logistics company, Samskip, has opened up the twice-weekly route which will officially arrive at the Port of Hull for the first time on 14 October, with a vessel holding over 500 twenty-foot containers. Over the year, around 15,000 extra containers are expected to be handled at the Hull Container Terminal.

Samskip opens new service between Amsterdam and Hull

Wednesday 28th March, Mr. Michael van Toledo, General Manager TMA Logistics, Mrs. Femke Brenninkmeijer, Director Energy, Cargo & Offshore of the Port of Amsterdam, and Mr. David Besseling, Samskip's Trade Manager UK have officially opened the new service on the UK Trade operating between Amsterdam and Hull, Samskip announces in its press release. The new calls and the port's European hinterland systems augment our existing Rotterdam-Hull operation and runs alongside shortsea and multimodal services into Tilbury and Grangemouth. ABP Container Terminal HULL to Double Trade with New Cranes

Thu Feb 22 09:58:11 CET 2018 arnekiel

The arrival of two ship-to-shore (STS) cranes worth US$ 14.7 million (£10.5 million) will enable ABP’s Hull Container Terminal to handle double the volume of trade by increasing capacity at the UK port to more than 400,000 units per year. Giant 600 tonne, 50-metre-high STS cranes (pictured above) arrived fully assembled through the lock gates on February 15, 2018, marking the beginning of a range of new equipment from a $21 million (£15 million) investment. Reach stackers, tug trailers, and the creation of 9,000 square metres of new storage for customers are also part of the expansion as part of ABP’s commitment to invest a total of £50 million in its container terminals on the Humber, located in Immingham and Hull, in response to continued growth in demand. Liebherr designed and produced the bespoke cranes over a period of around 11 months in Ireland. The cranes took three days to ship via a special 168-meter vessel called HHL LAGOS which used a heavy lift crane to move the new STSs onto the quayside crane rails.
