Zhuhai port aims to double container and cargo throughput by 2020
THE Port of Zhuhai, opposite Macau, expects container volume will increase 18.6 per cent to 1.44 million TEU and total cargo throughput will rise 7.74 per cent to 76.23 million tonnes in 2016. By 2020, port authorities intend to more than double that to 3.1 million TEU and 170 million tonnes of cargo, partly due to South America trade and investment in Pakistan, according to the targets laid out in its current 2016-20 five-year plan, reported IHS Media Fairplay. According to the plan, Zhuhai will have the capacity to handle 3.78 million TEU and 200 million tonnes of cargo by 2020.
Zhuhai adds more container berths
Guangzhou: The southern Chinese port of Zhuhai is to add a 100,000 dwt class container berth, plus three 5,000 dwt class and four 1,000 dwt class container berths at its Gaolan port area. By the end of 2014, Zhuhai had an annual capacity of 151m tons. Zhuhai is accelerating the development of its port to be a regional logistics hub, and started operation of China’s largest bulk bonded warehouse, Xinfeng bonded warehouse in Gaolan port area last week to improve the service ability of Zhuhai port. Zhuhai Port to Get New Berths
CCCC Fourth Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. has recently won the bid for construction of Berths 2-7 in Phase 2 of the container terminal project in Gaolan zone of Zhuhai Port, with construction period of 48 months. The project involves construction of six professional container berths and auxiliary facilities such as three container yards, a break bulk yard and a warehouse.
