Repair at Orangjewerf

Mon Mar 30 09:13:16 CEST 2026 Timsen

Since March 26, the 'A Rosa Sena' was being repaired at the Oranjewerf shipyard in Amsterdam-Noord, and it was expected to be a few more days before ship is ready for service again. The next currently bookable river cruise was due to departs from Cologne on April 18. Customers would be informed directly by A-ROSA about further procedures, if necessary. The police had temporarily closed the bridge with which the river cruise ship allided, but an inspection on March 26 had revealed only minor damage, so it was reopened to traffic.

Allision with bridge over Amsterdam-Rhine Canal

Fri Mar 27 10:58:10 CET 2026 Timsen

The 'A Rosa Sena' allided with a bridge over the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal on March 25, 2026, at 11.50 p.m., and suffered damage to the wheelhouse, and the antenna at the stern was broken. The ship was still able to pass under the bridge and moored at the western Merwede Canal dike. The master had sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment on site. The passengers had to be evacuated due to a power outage on board, which occurred a few hours after the allision. It took some time to get the passengers off, as several of them were were still asleep. They had to be woken up first, after which they were helped over a small dike towards the public road. Emergency services scaled up significantly so that the approximately 250 passengers could be disembarked. The passengers were taken to their final destinations by bus on March 26 at around 6:00 a.m. The bridge was temporarily closed in both directions, but has been reopened to traffic following an inspection at 3:00 a.m. The police conducted an on-site investigation into the circumstances of the allision. The shipping company has arranged alternative transport for the passengers. The 'A-Rosa Sena' was en route to Utrecht, with Cologne as its final destination. After the ship was towed to the nearby Oranjewerf in Amsterdam for repairs on March 26, at 11..20 a.m., canal traffic was no longer obstructed.
