Crew member died on board

Mon Aug 26 12:18:40 CEST 2019 Timsen

The Filipino crew member Colinares Dominator Badilla, 56, has died aboard the "Aanya" near Recife Port. The ship was carrying iron ore to Itqaqui. Colinares Badilla got sick on August 16 and died on Aug 21, 2019, while the ship headed to Pernambuco. After Colinares began to suffer from body aches, cold, fever and vomiting and was being medicated, but his health deteriorated two days later. The ship's captain , assisted remotely by doctors and a specialized center located in Italy, gave the prescribed medication and continued to monitor the patient's condition, which continued to worsen. Near the port of Recife, the captain informed local authorities about the patient's severity situation. A medical team from the Brazilian Navy flew by helicopter to the vessel to rescue the man and transport him to a hospital, but the Filipino had already died. The Federal Police was called to investigate the occurrence and to take the appropriate measures. As circumstances possibly indicate natural death, with no evidence of committing a crime, a judicial police procedure was not formalized until the reason for the death was indicated. The body was collected by a team from the Institute of Forensic Medicine, to perform tanatoscopic expertise and to determine the cause of death.
