Medevac off San Francisco

The US Coast Guard medevaced a crew member from the 'Aetos', en route from Masan to Panama, off San Francisco, on the evening of June 10, 2025. District 11 watchstanders received a call on June 8 at approximately 10 a.m. , from the captain of the ship, reporting that a 40-year-old crew member aboard was exhibiting symptoms of appendicitis while the vessel was sailing approximately 820 miles off the coast. The watchstanders advised the captain to meet at a rendezvous point and coordinated the launch of an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from the Air Station Ventura. The aircrew transited to Air Station San Francisco to refuel and began their flight to the 'Aetos' n June 10 at approximately 5 p.m. The helicopter arrived on scene 185 miles off San Francisco at approximately 7 p.m., hoisted the patient aboard and began their transit to the San Francisco International Airport, where the patien was transferred to awaiting emergency medical services at approximately 9 p.m. Report with video: https://www.news.uscg.mil/Press-Releases/Article/4215390/coast-guard-medevacs-man-185-miles-offshore-san-francisco/
