Frenchman tested negative

The man who was suspected of coronavirus was tested negative on March 16, 2020, at the Dakar Autonomous Port aboard the 'Aline Sitoé Diatta' was tested negative by the Pasteur Institute. As a preventive measure, the entire crew of the ferry was confined on board.

When the 'Aline Sitoé Diatta' arrived in Dakar from Ziguinchorin the early morning of March 16, 2020, she unable to disembark its passengers due to a suspected case of coronavirus infection on board, concerning a young Frenchman. Tests were carried out on 300 passengers of the ship. The Frenchman and seven people who shared the cabin were all confined to this compartment. Besides the passengers, there were 42 crew members, two police officers and two gendarmes who provided security, on board.

Ferry saved three castaways

After a trawler capsized in the early morning of Sep 7, 2018, between the mouth of the Casamance River and the Atlantic Ocean, the "Aline Sitoé Diatta" rescued three of the 15 fishermen from Dakar. The ferry was heading towards the mouth of the river, when the castaways were remarked by the outlook. The rescue operation delayed the arrival of the "Aline Sitoé Diatta", which used to dock at the port of Ziguinchorbetween 11 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. to 3.45 p.m. The three survivors were evacuated to the health facilities of the Commune. Search operations were continuing to try to find the rest of the missing fshermen. A trawler with 15 people on board, including the crew, capsized on the high seas in the night from yesterday to today. The balance sheet of this accident, the cause of which we do not yet know, would be "12 missing". According to our sources, "3 of the trawler's occupants were rescued by the Aline Sitoé Diatta ship bound for Ziguinchor". By the time we put this article online, said ship is still in the waters of the Casamance River.
