Tanker linked to ship-to-ship transfers of Russian oil detained

Tue Feb 21 12:32:47 CET 2023 Timsen

The 'Melogy', which was linked to ship-to-ship transfers of Russian oil in the Mediterranean Sea, was detained in the Port of Kali Limenes on Feb 14, 2023. The tanker was long engaged in US-sanctioned Venezuelan trades that shifted to Russian oil trades in Dec 2022. The tanker sailed directly to the island on Feb12 after transiting the Suez Canal in ballast. The circumstances of the detention remained unknown.

Two Stowaways found aboard tanker at Texas City port

Thu Sep 29 09:33:17 CEST 2011 arnekiel

Two stowaways believed to be from Columbia were found aboard a Liberia flagged oil tanker that was docked at the Port of Texas City on Wednesday morning, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokeswoman said. Officials are investigating how the men got aboard the ship, but it’s believed they made their way on board while the ship was being refueled at sea. The tanker Alter Ego II was docked at Pier 21 at the Port of Texas City to offload crude oil at 10:30 a.m. A Customs and Border Protection officer was conducting a routine vessel boarding when he was notified of the stowaways, agency spokeswoman Paula Rivera said.
