Mon Mar 03 10:57:04 CET 2014 Timsen

Two men were confirmed dead and up to 15 were still missing after the "Midøy Dakhla 1" was in collision with the Moroccan f/v "Taouss" which capsized and sank in the morning of Mar 1, 2014, in the Dhakla Bay. The accident happened 4,5 miles off Dakhla at Villa Cisneros. 18 castaways were saved by the rescue ship "Al Wahda" of the Moroccan fisheries ministry. There was an ongoing large scale SAR operation by helicopters, boats and rescue forces. The "Midøy Dakhla 1" which had a master and 1st officer from Midsund, Norway, suffered only minor damage which did not affect the vessels's seaworthiness. The "Taouss" was said to have had a crew of 35.
