Attalya was found by the tugboat Fairmount Fuji afternoon October 15 2010 about 128 miles off Cape Seal. It had drifted about 212 seamiles from where it had last been seen. Information from the South African Maritime Rescue Coordination centre in Cape Town.

Tanker Attalya, reported on October 11 as drifting in Atlantic some 800 nm W off Cape Town, after tow line broke, disappeared. Tug couldn’t locate tanker on October 14, SAR plane sent to search on October 15. No data on crew on board if any, because vessel most probable, was under tow to srapeyard, after fire in engine room and superstructure on August 27 2009 off Cotonou Benin, crew was evacuated. Now vessel has no flag, and if she was on the way to scrap, then she may be unmanned.
