Hatch covers blown into the Rhine
On Aug 26, 2011 at 1 p.m., the "Insula" from Nieuw Lekkerland lost 32 hatch covers in a storm on the Rhine at Wesel. The aluminum plates which covered the cargo of 3,000-tons gypsum were measuring 2.50 x 10.05 metres. Seven of them were eventually blown up to the right bank of the river at km 828.6).
