Gas leak on tanker on the Elbe

Fri Oct 20 12:56:17 CEST 2017 Timsen

On Oct 19, 2017, at 9.30 p.m. the "Bow Guardian" suffered a gas leak on the Elbe off Stade. High explosive gas escaped from the ship through a high pressure vent after a leakage of a pump. The ship was about to unload a cargo of LPG in the industrial port and was on a waiting position during the night. The water police established a safety zone of 1000 meters around the vessel and stopped the ship traffic. About 120 rescue forces were alerted, among them personnel of the Analytical Task Force from Hamburg to support the measurings of gas concentration. 200 inhabitants of nearby houses in Abbenfleth had to be evacuated, but were allowed to return on Oct 20 at 2 a.m. Windows and doors in the surroundings had to be kept closed, until the forces managed to seal the leak. Gas ethylene carrier 'Bow Guardian' to enter ethylene pool

Mon Sep 22 10:13:36 CEST 2014 arnekiel

Lauritzen Kosan has reached an agreement with Norwegian Odfjell Gas that its two 9,000 cbm 2008 built ethylene carriers, Bow Guardian and Bow Gallant (sister vessels to Stella Kosan, Stina Kosan and Sophia Kosan) in the near future will enter Lauritzen Kosan’s ethylene gas carrier pool. “I am very pleased with the agreement with Odfjell Gas as it will strengthen our position in the ethylene gas carrier segment”, says Thomas Wøidemann, President, Lauritzen Kosan.
