Ferry back on the track
The "Breizh Nevez 1", which had been immobilized since February 19, after having run onto a rock at the citadel of Port Louis while serving between Lorient and the island of Groix, has resumed its rotations in the afternoon of June 3. She left port around 2 p.m. The crew had taken over the ferry on May 31 from the the Piriou shipyards on the Keroman naval repair area in Lorient. The following sea trials were successful. The "Saint Tudy" which had replaced the "Breizh-Nevez I" could thus be released.
Ferry relaunched after repair
The "Breizh-Nevez I" was relaunched at the naval repair area of Keroman, Lorient, on May 28 and left the port on May 29 at 80 a.m. All the breaches at the hull and the damage to the rudder have been repaired. Trials at dockside and then at sea were planned until May 30th, before returning to service on June 3rd, the date of the start of a technical stop of the ferry "Saint-Tudy". The ferry had been under repair since February 19 after grounding on a rock at the citadel of Port Louis on its service between Lorient and the island of Groix The files related to the revotorisation have been validated by the Central Safety Commission (CCS) of the ships. After explanation and argument, it was no longer required to perform a stability test, as initially requested.
Ferry lifted back into the water
On May 7 the "Breizh Nevez" was lifted from the Keroman naval repair area in Lorient back into the water before it was towed to the jetty of the Compagnie Océane. The ferry, howver, will not resume service until late May-early June as it must still undergo work at the dock and then carry out tests at sea. After grounding on the rocks at the entrance to the port, hull plates had to be exchanged, and the owner of the vessel took the opportunity to replace the two engines.
