The 'Folla 2' suffered a rudder failure and lost control off Lille-Molla in the municipality of Vågan in the West Fjord enroute to Svolvær in the evening of Jan 8, 2020. The JRCC North Norway mobilized the NSSR lifeboats 'Sundt Flyer' from Svolvær and 'Det Norske Veritas' from Ballstad. The ship was adrift in wind speeds of 17.4 seconds. Assistance was also requested from the fishing vessel "Knut Olav" (IMO: 9814686) from Svolvær, which headed towards the driftig vessel, but turned back later. At 9.40 p.m. the situation was under control after the rudder could be centered and the ship could withstand the weather and the 'Sundt Flyer' had arrived on scene and took the ship in tow. The patrol boat 'Nordkapp' of the Norwegian Coast Guard arrived an hour later and escorted the convoy to Lødingen. There were several other vessels in the area, including the Hurtigruten ferry 'Lofoten' to stand by. The 'Folla 2' which had sailed from Bodø on Jan 8 at 2.45 p.m. was safely berthed in Lødingen on Jan 9 at 6.20 a.m. She left the port again on Jan 11 at 6.30 a.m. and headed to Harstad where she arrived at 11.30 a.m. and docked at the Harstadt Mekaniske Verksted AS for repairs. Folla ran into reindeer herd

Sun Mar 17 19:27:00 CET 2013 Timsen

Police in Helgeland has started an investigation regarding the particular animal tragedy that took place in Lurøy in Helgeland on Mar 14, 2013. A reindeer herd moved from Onøya to Røssøya while the "Folla" approached bound for Tromsoe. There were four men out in a boat to stop traffic. When the freighter arrived they waved all they could, but the vessel made no sign of stopping. Hundreds of deer were swimming in the middle of the sound when the freighter ran into the herd at full speed. The leading animals turned and swam into those that followed. In the chaos several of the animals drowned, and dead animals were picked up on both sides of the strait. On Mar 15 herders filed a complaint to the police which started an investigation.
