Fishing vessel towed to Andratx

The 'Cap Salines' suffered an engine breakdown in vicinity 39 22 12.0 N, 002 07 12.0 E, around eight miles Northwest of the Isla Dragonera, Mallorca, in the morning of March 19. The MRCC Palma mobilized the SAR boat 'Salvamar Libertas' to assist which took the vessel in tow to the port of Andratx where it was sefely berthed at 12.30 p.m.

Disabled fishing vessel towed to Palma

In the morning of Nov 9, 2016, around 8 a.m. the nets of the "Cap Salines" fouled the propeller, disabling the ship 12 miles south of the lighthouse of Cala Figuera in stormy weather. The salvage ship "Salvamar Acrux" of the Maritime Rescue Center in Palma took the ship in tow amidst waves of up to four meters height. The ship was towed to the port of Palma. The operation was very complicated due to the strong wind and high swell. After several hours of navigation in these conditions, the two ships docked at the port at 3.30 p.m. The four crew members of the "Cap Salines" were in good condition.
