Fishing boat capsized after collision

Fri Dec 21 09:45:33 CET 2018 Timsen

The "Cape Verde" was in collision with the 12-meter long fishing boat "Muneyoshi Maru", 4,8 ts, in the Osaka Bay on Dec 21, 2018, at 08.40 a.m. The boat with two people on board overturned about six kilometers from Tomogashima at the coast of Wakayama. Aboard the vessel operated by the Fishermen's Association of Tsuna, Awaji City (Hyogo). were a father, 74, and hos son, both fishermen. Both were rescued, but the father had a cardiorespiratory arrest. He was taken to hospital and placed in intensive care. At the time there was dense fog in Wakayama. The "Cape Verde" was en route from Point Samson to Fukuyama. The bulk carrier stopped in the Osaka Bay and moored in pos. 34° 34.19' N 135° 11.93' E for investigations. The Kobe Maritime Safety Department and others were investigating the circumstances. The survey found that father and son were using fishing net at the time of the accident. There was a possibility that the freighter has curled up in the fishing net, causing the fishing vessel to turn bottom up.
