Burst pipe flooded cabins
The 'Carnival Sensation' was delayed departing Key West due to some issues onboard the ship with a burst pipe and air conditioning in the evening of Oct 3, 2019, resulting in water entering some guest staterooms and affecting the air conditioning to the impacted area. The pool had a burst water pipe which impacted some areas on decks 4 and 7 with flooding. Some cabins had around 3-4 feet of flooding with water pouring from the ceilings. Some guests had been forced to sleep around the ship as it was too hot to stay in their cabins due to no air conditioning. The 'Carnival Sensation' stayed in port so that technicians could join the ship to begin making repairs to the burst pipe and air conditioning. The problems have since been fixed and all systems were operating as normal again. The guests in affected staterooms were relocated to alternate accommodations. All impacted guests were offered compensation and were also given the option of disembarking the vessel and returning to Miami via motorcoach from Key West. The cruise ship was delayed by several hours departing Key West on Oct 4.
Housekeeping storage caused smoke on deck 6
On Feb 11, 2019, at 3 a.m. smoke filled up one of the hallways on the "Carnival Sensation" at the end of a western Caribbean cruise. Initially it was thought a small fire broke out on deck 6. The emergency Alpha code was announced throughout the ship which meant there was a possible fire onboard and crew members who are trained to deal with these situations were told to attend. When fire crews arrived no fire was found on deck 6. The thick smoke was apparently coming from a housekeeping storage unit. Short time later, the smoke dissipated, The captain informed passengers with the PA system. The cruise ship was coming to the end of a 4-night western Caribbean cruise which departed Miami on Feb 7. Hours after the incident the ship arrived back into Miami at 8 a.m., being scheduled to depart for a 5-night sailing later in the day. Just the day before, the ship skipped a planned stop in Mexico so the U.S. Coast Guard could airlift out a sick crew member.
