Kelly Arison to christen new Carnival Sunrise

Fri Apr 05 10:32:38 CEST 2019 arnekiel

Kelly Arison, daughter of Carnival Corporation chairman Micky Arison, will christen Carnival Cruise Line’s new Carnival Sunrise when she enters services in New York on 23 May 2019. Formerly Carnival Triumph, the new Carnival Sunrise is currently undergoing a US$200 million bow-to-stern revitalisation in Cadiz, Spain as part of Carnival’s multibillion-dollar ship enhancement programme. Once complete, the vessel will offer all of Carnival’s popular branded food, beverage and entertainment innovations, as well as new guest accommodation. The invitation-only naming ceremony will take place onboard Carnival Sunrise, which will be berthed at Manhattan Cruise Passenger Terminal. Kelly Arison will take on the same godmother role previously held by her mother Madeline Arison when the ship first entered service as Carnival Triumph in 1999.

Fire in Cádiz

Fri Mar 22 09:55:16 CET 2019 Timsen

In the early afternoon of March 21, 2019, a fire broke out during welding works aboard the "Carnival Triumph" at the quay of the Navantia shipyard in Cádiz where the ship had berthed on March 12 for a maintenance of 40 days. The yard performed a timely evacuation of the personnel in the affected area of the boat deck at starboard side was carried out, as mandated by the emergency protocol. There were no injuries, although the fire was very striking due to the highly combustible materials, and there was a very dense black smoke development. The fire brigade of the yard was able to put out the fire within short time without need of external forces. In addition to the workers of Navantia and sub-contractors from Cádiz, the work involves more than 3,000 operators hired by the shipowner who stay on ferries for the duration of the ship's refurbishment. The investment was around 200 million Dollars. No delay of the redelivery was expected as a consequence of the fire. Cruise ship supplied sailing yacht

Sun Dec 16 18:55:01 CET 2018 Timsen

The "Carnival Triumph" helped out a small sailing boat during a recent Caribbean cruise from New Orleans. The ship provided some which was much needed by the small boat on Dec 12, 2018. A request was issued that they needed oil, and the "Carnival Triumph" responded. The transfer was made direct without the cruise ship launching a small boat to meet them.
