13 migrants interdicted off Point Loma

The 'Forrest Rednour (WPC-1129)' interdicted 13 migrants aboard a 25-foot cuddy cabin cruiser approximately 23 miles west of Point Loma, California, on Aug 28. At approximately 5:45 a.m., the boarding team of the Coast Guard cutter intercepted the vessel carrying ten adults and three minors, with all three minors being accompanied by their mother. One claimed Guatemalan nationality and the other 12 claimed Mexican nationality. The boat was confiscated, and all 13 refugees were detaubed and transferred to another DHS agency. The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter 'Haddock' interdicted 21 migrants aboard a 25-foot boat approximately 20 nautical miles west of Point Loma, on Feb 28. In addition to the Coast Guard Cutter, the Coast Guard Sector San Diego, the 'Forrest Rednour' and a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations patrol aircraft participated in the response. The Coast Guard took the migrants into custody and transferred them to U.S. Border Patrol personnel.
