21 migrants intercepted off La Jolla
The 'David Duren (WPC 1156)' interdicted 21 migrants aboard a 30-foot vessel approximately 26 miles west of La Jolla, California, on Sep 14, 2025, at 5:17 p.m. The cutter’s boarding team intercepted the vessel carrying 18 adults and three minors. Two of the minors were unaccompanied teens. 17 people claimed Mexican nationality, three claimed Venezuelan nationality and one claimed Honduran nationality. All 21 people were detained onboard and transferred to another DHS agency at Ballast Point for further investigations. Boat with migrants stranded off Sunset Cliff
The Coast Guard Station San Diego interdicted seven suspected migrants aboard a 20-foot vessel approximately 7.5 miles west of the Sunset Cliffs on July 7. At 12:37 a.m., Coast Guard Sector San Diego watch-standers received a call from San Diego Lifeguards for a disabled vessel reporting it had been stranded for several hours. The 'David Duren' was diverted to the vessel to investigate. The boarding team discovered seven people aboard the boat , two of whom were minors. Four of the seven individuals had identification, six claimed Mexican nationality, and one claimed Chilean nationality. All of them were taken into custody. The obat and the suspected migrants were transported to Ballast Point to be transferred to the custody of Imperial Beach Border Patrol. 19 migrants removed from cabin cruiser which remained adrift
The 'David Duren (WPC 1156)' interdicted 19 migrants aboard a 25-foot cuddy cabin cruiser approximately 23 miles west of Oceanside, California, on April 22. At approximately 2:15 a.m., the 'David Duren’s boarding team intercepted a cabin cruiser, matching the description of a suspected human smuggling boat and discovered 18 adult males and one adult female, all claiming Mexican nationality. All passengers aboard the cuddy cabin stated they had not had food or water for two days and were medically evaluated. No major medical concerns were discovered during the evaluation, and the migrants were given water. The Coast Guard brought them to Oceanside where they were transferred to U.S. Border Patrol personnel. An urgent marine information broadcast has been issued by the Coast Guard, urging all mariners in the area to safely navigate around the unmanned and adrift cabin cruiser.
