Ferry will help evacuate stranded people from Israel

The Seajets company of Marios Iliopoulos responded to the request of the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy for the transport of citizens from various countries from Israel to Cyprus aboart the 'Champion Jet 1' on Oct 16, 2023, in order to help evacuate tourists and citizens who were stuck in Jerusalem and other cities of Israel. The ship will sail to Haifa, where the foreign nationals will board, and then sail to the port of Limassol, where they will disembark. The ship will have a strong escort, both on the route to Haifa and to Limassol.

Collision in Tinos

The 'Champion Jet 1', while manoeuvring at the port of Tinos, was in collision with the ferry 'Ekaterini P' (IMO: 9000443), in the foremidday of June 2, 2023, while serving its scheduled route from the port of Rafina to Andros, Tinos, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, and Piraeus with 686 passengers on board. The 'Ekaterini P' was on its scheduled route from the port of Naxos to Mykonos, Tinos, and Rafina with 217 passengers on board. The 'Champion Jet 1' berthed safely at Tinos. No injuries and no pollution were reported. The Port Authority of Tinos carried out a preliminary investigation. Both ships could continue their operations after a class maintenance certificates was issued by the monitoring classification societies.

Ferry suffered mechanical trouble off Serifos

The Port Authority of Serifos was informed on May 15, 2022, at noon by the Captain of the "Champion Jet 1" about a mechanical damage of the starboard side main engine, while the ship was operating the scheduled route from Piraeus to the port of Serifos. There was a malfunction in the electronic speed system. The ferry sailed safely to the port of Serifos and disembarked 69 passengers and 11 cars, out of 412 passengers and 49 cars. The departure of the ship was initially prohibited by the relevant Port Authority until the presentation of a class maintenance certificate by the classification society that monitors it. After the presentation of a corresponding certificate, the departure of the ship was allowed.
