Valve trouble in Dover Strait

On April 13, 2019, at 6.45 p.m. the "Hafnia Arctic", en route from Porvoo to New York with a crew of 23 on board, left the southbound lane of the Dover Strait TSS and anchored in position 51 08 36 N, 001 32 49 E, after suffering a defect in its exhaust valve. The vessel was carrying a cargo of 62.482 tonnes of gasoline. The exhaust valve needed replacing. The crew worked all night to remedie the issue and resumed repair works on April 145 at 7 a.m. The estimated time of completion of repair works is around four hours. Welfare checks were conducted every 60 minutes and no assistance from tugs or coastguard was required. On April 15 the ship remained moored in pos. 51° 10.02' N 001° 27.36' E.

Nuclear-powered icebreaker Taimyr guides tanker Arctic Char

The nuclear-powered icebreaker Taimyr is escorting the tanker Arctic Char to the Northern edge of the White Sea, the icebreaker owner Atomflot said. The Taimyr was deployed in the White Sea instead of another icebreaker Russia, which is now bound to the Gulf of Finland to replace there the flagship of Russian nuclear-powered fleet "50 Let Pobedy" The Taimyr will be operating in the area to ensure safe shipping to the port of Vitino.
