Repairs expected to take at least a week

Thu Aug 21 22:35:45 CEST 2025 Timsen

The "Ciudad de Sóller" will be out of service for seven to ten days following the fire in an auxiliary engine that occurred in the port of Valencia, according to Trasmed CEO Ettore Morace. Provisionally, the Valencia-Palma line will be served during this time by the ferry "Ciudad de Palma." Meanwhile, passengers and cargo on the Barcelona-Palma line will travel on Balearia, thanks to an agreement between the two companies. The "Ciudad de Sóller" remained stationary at the passenger terminal in Valencia for the time being.

Fire in auxiliary engine quickly extinguished

Wed Aug 20 12:23:55 CEST 2025 Timsen

A fire broke out in an auxiliary engine on Aug 18, 2025, in the engine room of the "Ciudad de Sóller" on its voyage between Palma and València. There were no crew members in the engine room at the time of the incident. Eight fire fighters boarded the ship at the Terminal Transmediterránea. The Port's Special Emergency Plan (PEE) was activated by the Emergency Coordination Center of the Valencian Government. The fire was quickly extinguished, and the damage could be limited to the affected engine area. The vessel, however, was banned from sailing at the berth in the port of València, awaiting inspections to determine the extent of the incident and its return to service. There were no personal injuries reported, Both passengers and cargo from last night's Palma-bound ferry have been relocated to other vessels serving the València-Palma route. Meanwhile, the ferry "Ciudad de Barcelona," which last night served on the Valencia-Ibiza-Palma route, operated the reverse route on the Palma-Ibiza-València route, seeking to minimize the inconvenience caused by the incident on the "Ciudad de Sóller."
