Container ship en route to Dunkirk with rescued migrants

Thu Mar 10 11:28:28 CET 2022 Timsen

The 'CMA CGM Rivoli' is heading to Dunkirk carrying 26 migrants who had fled from Libya with an ETA as of March 13. The migrants left the city of Benghazi on March 3 in a rubber boat. Two days later they contacted Alarm Phone saying they were adrift in international waters. Both the Italian and Maltese coast guards refused Alarm Phone’s requests to take responsibility for rescuing the migrants, instead telling the NGO to contact Libyan authorities. On March 6, Alarm Phone learned that the migrants had been rescued by the 'CMA CGM Rivoli' which had located them en route from Singapore.

Container ship rescued 26 boat people

Mon Mar 07 11:05:20 CET 2022 Timsen

A migrant boat with 26 people on board borke down off the coast of Libya and was at the mercy of the waves on March 5, 2022. The NGO Alarm Phone asked the authorities to coordinate rescue efforts. The luxury yacht 'Quantum Blue', the cruise ship 'MSC Magnifica' and CMA CGM Rivoli' were located close to the incident site. The container ship, en route from Singapur to Dunkirk, finally rescued the migrants.

Ships divert from Ningbo after closure due to Covid-19

Fri Aug 13 12:29:16 CEST 2021 Timsen

Ships were beginning to divert from Ningbo to Shanghai, following the decision to close the Ningbo Meishan Island International Container Terminal (MSICT) due to Covid-19 on Aug 11, 2021. All operations at the terminal were suspended at 3 a.m. on Aug 12, with the gate-in of export containers limited to two days of a vessel’s ETA. CMA CGM said cargo operations on its vessels 'CMA CGM Samson', on its PEX3 service, and 'CMA CGM Rivoli', on FAL1, which are alongside, were temporarily on hold until the terminal re-opened. The 'CMA CGM Melisande', serving PEX3, would now call at Shanghai on Au 18 or 19, and then go to Ningbo, arriving Aug 20 or 21. The FAL3 service’s Kerguelen would follow the same pattern, but two days earlier. The 'CMA CGM Centaurus', on Columbus PNW, 'Cosco Venice' (GMXP) and 'Kota Carum' (REX2) will omit Ningbo altogether. Hapag-Lloyd warned customers of an expected delay in planned sailings, while Cosco also said some ships would omit Ningbo this week.
