Freighter arrested after cargo incident

Wed Feb 14 15:06:57 CET 2018 Timsen

On Feb 13 about 30 percent of the cargo on board the "Confident" has been discharged at Ulsan to stabilize the vessel. The vessel was reportedly arrested by the court requested by salvage company, thus the vessel could not sail for the destined discharge port of Gunsan, Korea and was presently berthed at the premises of the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), Ulsan, Korea without any sailing schedule.

Ship still unstable after cargo shift

Wed Feb 07 11:45:03 CET 2018 Timsen

The "Confident" developed a 10-degree list to starboard after the deck cargo of timber shifted in the night of Feb 1, 2018, about five miles south of Ulsan, and asked for assistance around 10 p.m.. The ship was en route from a Russian Far East port to Busan. It was decided to turn to Ulsan, where the "Confident" arrived escorted by a tug on Feb 2 at 3 a.m. In port, cranes started to removed the cargo, but during that process the starboard list of 20 degrees suddenly shifted to portside. As of Feb 7, salvage work was still under way with salvors trying to stabilize the "Confident" and keep her from capsizing. An oil boom was laid out around the vessel.
