U.S. Coast Guard Medevacs Sailor Aboard M/V Cougar Ace

Sat Jan 31 08:38:43 CET 2015 arnekiel

U.S. Coast Guard rescuers from Newport, Rhode Island conducted a MEDEVAC on Thursday morning (Jan. 29) of a crewmember from the 654-foot pure truck & car carrier M/V Cougar Ace. The 48 year old seafarer had suffered an electrical burn to his right hand, according to a statement by the Coast Guard, and a Station Castle Hill 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew launched and safely brought the injured sailor ashore where he was then brought to the local hospital. M/V Cougar Ace is somewhat notorious within the maritime community due to a major loss of stability suffered on board the vessel in 2006 while carrying a cargo of nearly 5000 vehicles. She was conducting a ballast water transfer near the Aleutian Islands when things went bad.
