Freighter disabled near Istanbul

The 'Croatia' suffered an engine failure, while enroute from the port of Nikolaev to Hereke with a cargo of steel, in the evening of April 26, 2021, and went adrift in the area of Martyrs Bridge near the the Dolmabahçe Palace during the Southbound transit of the Bosphorus. Coastal Safety deployed the tug 'Kurtarma 8' to assist. Engine repair in Tuzla

The 'Croatia' has been shifted from the anchorage to Tuzla Bay to a shipyard fore repairs on Feb 15. Permanent repair works were commenced by technical teams. A new set of spare parts was provided by the owners. Upon completion of repair sea trials will be carried out.

Engine trouble in Istanbul Strait

The 'Croatia', while en route from Tripoli to Temryuk, suffered an engine failure, lost power and drifted at the northern part of the Istanbul Strait in position 41 18 00 N, 029 16 00 E, on Feb 12, 2021. Repairs could not be carried out by the crew. The Coastal Safety tug 'Kurtarma-2' took the vessel in tow to Tuzla anchorage on Feb 13 at 2 p.m. where it was moored in pos. 40° 50.28' N 029° 14.97' E at 11 p.m. It remained stationary as of Feb 15.
