Cyprus-headquartered accommodation vessel operator Prosafe has been awarded a contract to provide a ship to support offshore activities in the Central Mediterranean Sea. Prosafe, acting as commercial managers for the Axis Offshore-owned accommodation vessel Safe Swift, will mobilise the vessel to conduct gangway connected accommodation duties for a period of 5 months commencing in May. The Safe Swift, which has a capacity to accommodate 291 persons, completed a similar project in Central Mediterranean Sea last year.

Wed Apr 11 09:29:48 CEST 2018 Timsen

The "Safe Swift" allided with the oil platform "Sabratha Platform" which was operating in a water depth of 190 meters 110 km from the Libyan coast in the Bahr Essalam offshore field as a result of a strong storm on Apr 9, 2018, at 6.40 p.m. The incident did not cause any casualties and only slight damage to the platform. The "Safe Swist" sustained damages to her upper deck mechanisms and gear. The bulwark at the port side bow was dented. The National Oil Corporation formed a commission of inquiry into the incident. A meeting was held at the site, which included specialists from the NOC and Mellitah Oil and Gas Company to review the details of the incident. A global inspection company specialized in this field was assigned to assess the impact of the accident and to provide a prompt and full report to the NOC. The "Safe Swift" was located stationary 8.9 nautical miles from Bouri Terminal, Libya, in lat 33 45 02.82N, long 12 41 01.96E, on Apr 15.
