Seven missing and two dead after shipwreck
The 'Ding Hao Ji 7' sank in the East China Sea south of Shanghai on Dec 30, 2020. Two crew members have been confirmed dead, while four more were rescued alive. An SAR operation was launched for seven others who were missing. The maritime search and rescue center in China's Zhejiang Province received a distress call at about 3:40 p.m. on Dec 30 from the vessel which was loaded with 4,700 tons of cement bound from Wuhu to Xiamen and requested assistance in the Hangzhou Bay south of Shanghai. The vessel reported to the maritime center that it had experienced strong waves causing its cargo hold to flood. More than 20 vessels were searching the area for the crew.
