Debris in the water caused MOB alert

Thu Aug 28 11:41:26 CEST 2025 Timsen

Hours after departing Nassau, Bahamas, guests sailing aboard the 'Disney Wish' were alarmed when the secret emergency code for "man overboard" was broadcast throughout the ship on Aug 26, 2025, at around 8:00 p.m. The cruise ship began to slow down, and crew members launchedsearch and rescue efforts. They were throwing life rings over the port side of the ship, and at least two rescue boats were deployed. Eventually, all guests were asked to report to their muster stations, so the crew could conduct a headcount and identify potential witnesses. Everyone onboard had been accounted for. Still, all guests had to stay in their assigned assembly stations, even after their headcount was finished, until the entire ship was cleared. [The captain made an announcement on the morning, confirming that everyone was safe and said that it was most likely a large piece of debris in the water that was mistaken for a person. As consolation for the interruption of the events in the night, everyone was comped $150 to their accounts. Medevac off Ameland

Mon Apr 11 15:43:51 CEST 2022 Timsen

In the afternoon of April 9, 2022, an SAR helicopter of the Dutch Coast Guard carried out a medical evacuation from the 'Disney Wish' which was sailing 40 kilometers above Ameland. A person on board needed urgent medical attention, and after contact with the Dutch Coast Guard in Den Helder, it was decided to disembark the patient and transport him to the Medical Center in Leeuwarden. The cruise ship had departed from Eemshaven on March 30 for trials and had no passengers on board. At 5:15 p.m. the helicopter arrived at the MCL and dropped off the patient.
