Russian captain injured in brawl in Rostock
In the late evening of Jan 17, 2019, a brawl broke out aboard the "Eastern Vanquish" in the port of Rostock. The marine police and an ambulance were called to the seaport. There were quarrels between the declining Chief Mate and the captain, both Russian citizens, which ended in a physical confrontation. The captain had to be taken to a hospital with facial injuries. After an emergency treatment, the patient discharged himself, contrary to the medical advice. The ship continued its journey towards Lübeck on Jan 18 at 6.30 a.m.
Engine failure off Walney Island wind farm
The "Eastern Vanquish", enroute from Ferrol to Glasson Dock, suffered a main engine failure in position in pos. 53 57 18 N, 003 35 12 W, on Dec 8, 2018, at 02.15 a.m. The vessel anchored 2,5 miles west of the Walney Island wind farm attempting to effect repairs. The defect was identified as a leak of main engine lubrication oil. Repairs were completed at 5.25 a.m. and the ship berthed at Glasson Dock on Dec 9 at 1.15 p.m.Upload News
