Wind farm ship saved two fishermen

Tue Jun 02 13:37:03 CEST 2020 Timsen

Emergency services were called on May 31, 2020, at 7.45 a.m. after a vessel, believed to be a decommissioned fishing vessel, got into difficulty about a mile off the coast of Rossall Point. When two RNLI boats and a Coastguard helicoptere arrived, the 'Eden Rose' was already on scene and had picked up two of the three fishermen. At this point their sip had sank. The two men were transferred over to one the lifeboats and were taken back to Fleetwood into the care of the ambulance service as they were believed to have mild hypothermia. The lifeboat was then sent back out to search for the third fisherman who was still missing. The man in the 30s from Blackburn could only be recovered dead. The two survivors, a man aged 71 from Accrington and a man aged 70 from the Blackburn area, were taken by ambulance to hospital as a precaution suffering from shock and the effects of the cold water.
